The article addresses the matter of lying. This sin stems right at the start of creation with the lies of Adam.
How is possible that one can lie against the Holy Spirit? This article affirms that to lie to office bearers as they do their work is to lie against the Holy Spirit. One lies to the Holy Spirit by lying to the church in general by failing to keep promises and vows (Acts 5:3-9). Awareness that this is lying against God and treasuring the work of the Spirit will keep one from committing these sins.
Looking at the Ninth Commandment, this article shows that though the God demands truth, He does not totally forbid lying. In fact, God Himself uses lies in the Bible. Based on this, the author shows there are times when Christians can lie too. When this happens, the issues of the goal, motives, and conscience should be taken into consideration.
