The Word may not be blasphemed through the life of seniors

True Christian living insists that the believer’s life should be such that God’s Word may not be blasphemed — meaning believers must live in sincerity, holiness and integrity so that their conduct does not cause the gospel or God’s name to be dishonored. When life, speech, and behavior reflect the truth and holiness of God’s Word, the church bears witness to the gospel rather than giving cause for reproach or disbelief.

Ephesians 5:18 - Be Filled With the Spirit

Being filled with the Spirit calls believers away from drunkenness to the control and influence of the Holy Spirit, so that their life is governed by the Spirit rather than by fleshly impulses. It means living under the Spirit’s power, manifesting the fruit of the Spirit, worshipping God in heart-felt thankfulness and mutual encouragement, and walking in submission to Christ.

Our Lives and Romans 7

The outstanding characteristic of the life of the Christian is looking forward. We are, so Paul writes in Romans 8, saved “in hope”. This hope is not yet seen (v. 24). Now we are still greatly hindered by the sin that clings to all our works, but we know that deliverance is coming and we look forward to it. It is a hope that softens all our sorrows and that causes us to persevere in the struggle. We know that the victory belongs to our Saviour. He delivers us out of our deadly existence. His Spirit is the Spirit of life.

Hosea 6:4-5 - Deadly Serious

The strange God of Hosea 6:4 and 5 is truly God who takes delight in love. He is the God who has proved this once, for all time. He did not remain without remedy, at wit’s end, but He reached out to the last, the only effective remedy. He carried out the judgment for our lovelessness on his only Son. In this way he brought about love, a love that endures. This bible study on part of Habakuk expands on the issue.

Authorized

The word, “authorized” will sound familiar to the ears of most consistories. It is written on the letters of the consistories to classis — the letters in which they announce the names of the brothers who will be delegated to attend classic. This article discusses the authority mentioned here

Angels

These articles offer an extensive consideration of the identity and work of angels. The author looks at the place of the angels in spiritual war, in their ministry to believers, in their interpretation of Scripture, and in their joy in the work of the Lord. The author also discusses the task of the church in showing the glory of salvation to the angels.
