Spirit and Spirituality in Luther

Spirit and Spirituality in Luther

  • Technical
  • A. Skevington Wood

The Holy Spirit and spirituality are two key aspects frequently noted in theological discussions. Wood finds it profitable to reconsider the approach of Martin Luther to these two themes in theology. He indicates the importance of the Holy Spirit in Luther's theology and the role of the Spirit in Luther's piety and experience of faith. Next, he considers the nature of spirituality in the context of Luther's confrontation with the Anabaptists. Wood then applies his insights to the present discussions about the baptism with the Spirit and the filling of the Spirit.
