This article responds to and interacts with Kevin Giles who wrote in the same journal about his concerns with American evangelicals' view of the Trinity and in particular the "subordination of the Son" to the Father. This article acknowledges some valuable criticisms made by Giles and his defense of the full equality of the trinitarian persons opposing hierarchical relations. Letham does, however, offer some historical qualifications in response to Giles, and also argues that Giles is guilty of misrepresenting Wayne Grudem when he accuses him of Arianism and tritheism.
