Is Anyone More Holy Than Anyone Else? The Missing Category of the "Righteous Man"

Is Anyone More Holy Than Anyone Else? The Missing Category of the "Righteous Man"

  • Semi-Technical
  • Michael J. Kruger

Many Christians are fond of the saying, "No one is more holy than anyone else." Is this biblical? This article shows that it is not by explaining that many neglect the biblical category of the righteous man, the believer who displays a consistency in walking with God. The article offers four reasons why Christians are so eager to flatten out distinctions among believers: a misunderstanding of total depravity, a regarding of legalism as the only serious sin, an attempt to make ourselves feel better about our sin, and a forgetting that Christ is glorified not only in our justification but also in our sanctification.
