How often should the Lord's Supper be celebrated? Should churches have weekly communion? This thesis considers the subject of the frequency of the Lord's Supper, arguing that it should be practiced less than weekly. The author offers an outline of the historical practice of the church (particularly the Westminster tradition), then explores the doctrine of the sacrament and worship in order to prove his thesis. Then the relevant scriptural data is exegeted, namely, Acts 2:42-46, Acts 20:7, and 1 Corinthians 11:17ff. Lastly, a number of theological and logical arguments for weekly communion are scrutinized.
