It became fashionable in the early 1980s to study Old Testament theology from a political and sociological point of view. The author critically confronts such an approach and reflects on the task of Old Testament Theology.

The author presents a number of suggestions for translation of poetic passages from the Psalms, Job, and the Prophets; for example, Psalm 22:23-31, Job 13:15, and Malachi 2:15.
