Philippians 4:6
Philippians 4:6
Read:Philippians 4:1-9
Do you ever worry? Everyone does from time to time. Maybe you’re worried about your parents who are away for a few days. Maybe you have a test coming up that worries you. Maybe you’re worried that you will miss the bus.
Do you know what Paul says about worrying? He says, “Stop it. Just stop it. Stop worrying about everything.”
Paul had many things that he could have worried about. He came very close to death a number of times. He was put in prison, he was beaten, he was hungry. And yet he still tells us not to worry.
Paul says that instead of worrying about things, you need to pray about everything. Tell the Lord your concerns. Through prayer, God will give you his peace.
When you pray, you are telling the Lord about your concerns; you are laying your concerns before the Lord. Now, of course the Lord already knows what worries you. But the Lord wants you to tell him about it anyway. Because when you tell the Lord, you are learning to trust in the Lord. You are handing your worry over to the Lord.
The Lord is in complete control of your life. He cares for you. You are his precious child because Christ died for you. And so you need to remember that the Lord is working everything in your life to help you serve him better. God is with you, so things are going to be ok! This doesn’t mean you will never have troubles in life. You will, but the Lord will carry you through these hard times. Pray to him, and ask him to carry you, to care for you and to give you peace. Ask the Lord to help you to leave your worries with him, and to move forward, knowing that He cares for you. God is caring for your parents who are away. He will be with you in the test, even if it is hard. He will be with you even if you miss the bus. Trust him instead of worrying.

When you are worried, how does prayer help?
