If the church is to care for the mentally impaired and give support to their families, we must know the challenges and needs they face. This article defines what mental disability is, its causes, challenges faced by the family, a biblical perspective, and the support the church can give to the mentally handicapped. 

This article shows that God's grace can reach the mentally impaired or with the gospel through Scripture reading, sacraments, and singing. Through this God achieves his purpose of election.
