The Heidelberg Catechism remains a trustworthy summary of the core of the gospel and a valuable textbook for training the learning congregation in faith. Attractive Catechism preaching requires careful study of Scripture, the confession of the church, and the questions of our time, together with contemplation and prayer. Consistories should support Catechism preaching by encouraging their ministers to study, giving them space for preparation, and helping them build up the congregation.
