Defining the Titles “Christ” and “Son of God” in Mark's Narrative Presentation of Jesus

Defining the Titles “Christ” and “Son of God” in Mark's Narrative Presentation of Jesus

  • Semi-Technical
  • Herbert W. Bateman IV

This article wrestles with a question with a specific focus. Bateman asks whether the creeds of the church, its confessional statements, and later systematic theologies concerning the deity of Jesus have not clouded our ability to make unbiased interpretations of an earlier usage of the titles "Christ" and "Son of God" in a book such as the Gospel of Mark. Bateman explores Mark’s use of the titles "Christ" and "Son of God."
