During the last third of the twentieth century in New Testament textual criticism, a small but growing number of students accept the theory that the original text is to be found in a majority of manuscripts. This revival of the Majority Text theory is multifaceted. This essay attempts to survey the history of the revival, to examine briefly the various methods within the traditional text camp, and to give a critique of the various positions and of the presuppositions of the Majority Text theory.
