Context Matters: Paul's Use of Leviticus 18:5 in Galatians 3:12

Context Matters: Paul's Use of Leviticus 18:5 in Galatians 3:12

  • Semi-Technical
  • Joel Willitts

This essay wants to investigate the history of Jewish interpretation of Leviticus 18:5, and present a fresh reading of Galatians 3:10–14 within a redemptive-historical, and more specifically, exile-and-restoration framework. Different current approaches to Galatians 3 include those of law-gospel antithesis, apocalyptic fulfilment, and redemptive historical.
